Midwater Trawls

Diamond Wing 1000'

The Diamond Wing Midwater Trawl was developed in order to take advantage of the resiliency and efficiency of a hexagonal mesh front end while eliminating overly large mesh sizes at the very front of the trawl.

It is a four bridle trawl which incorporates an hexagonal section in the mid part of the front end.  The wings are completed with diamond meshes.

Cantrawl used extensive computer modelling (with DynamiT) to tune the trawl design.  The result is the inclusion of a unique section of variable length meshes which markedly improves the trawl's self opening properties.  Additionally the variable length section results in more balanced loads throughout the meshes.
